The Killer Inside Me (2010)

Plot:
Deputy Sheriff Lou Ford (Casey Affleck) is a pillar of the community in his small west Texas town, patient and apparently thoughtful. Some people think he is a little slow and maybe boring, but that he is nevertheless ordinary and dependable. Nobody knows about what Lou calls his "sickness": He is a violent sociopath with a taste for rape and murder. It nearly got him put away when he was younger, but his adopted brother took the fall for his crimes. But now the sickness that has been lying dormant for years is about to surface again and the consequences are brutal, devastating, and horrific.

The Oxford Murders (2008)

Plot:

Wood plays Martin, an American student at the University of Oxford who wants Arthur Seldom (Hurt) as his thesis supervisor. He idolises Seldom and has learned all about him. He takes rooms in Oxford at the house of an old lady, Mrs. Eagleton (Anna Massey), who is an old friend of Seldom. Also in the house is the old lady's daughter, Beth (Julie Cox), who is her full time caregiver — which she resents bitterly — and a musician by occupation.

Limitless (2011)

Plot:
Eddie is an intellectual slacker and former cocaine addict, now eking out a living as a copywriter for a small publishing house. Through a bizarre series of coincidences, he obtains MTD-48, a Nootropic drug with curious side-effects. After trying some, Eddie discovers MTD-48 boosts his intellect and makes him faster, more intuitive, and more charismatic. By warding off sleep and focusing his attention, the drug enables him to write a book, learn a foreign language, and predict certain events by detecting patterns in vast amounts of information -- all in a matter of hours. As he becomes more intrigued by the drug, he investigates its mysterious origins, setting in motion a deadly chain of events.

I Am Number Four (2011)

Plot:
Nine infant aliens, who closely resemble humans, flee their home planet, Lorien, to hide on Earth. An invading species, the Mogadorians, have destroyed their planet, and followed them to Earth to hunt them down. Each of the nine aliens is given a guardian and will develop superhuman powers as they become adults. They are each assigned a number. These last children of Lorien can only be killed in the sequence of their numbers. Numbers One, Two, and Three have been killed so far.
Number Four, also named John Smith, moves to Paradise, Ohio, disguised as an American high school student. He makes a friend, Sarah Hart, a sweet Midwestern girl who is a photographer. After being on the run his whole life, Number Four falls in love and now has something to stand up and fight for.

Brooklyn's Finest (2010)

Plot:

The film takes place within the notoriously rough Brownsville section of Brooklyn and especially within the Van Dyke housing projects in the NYPD's (fictional) 65th precinct. The action revolves around three policemen whose relationships to their jobs are drastically different.

The opening scene shows two men sitting in a parked car having a conversation, the man in the driver's seat, Carlo (Vincent D'Onofrio) is then shot unexpectedly in the face by the passenger, Detective Salvatore "Sal" Procida (Ethan Hawke). Sal grabs a bag of money out of Carlo's lap and runs away. Sal immediately confesses to a priest, not seeking God's forgiveness but his help with his situation, which he sees as dire. His wife (Lili Taylor) is pregnant with twins. His house is too small for the four children he already has, and it also has wood mold, which is jeopardizing his wife's health and the twins'. Desperate to move, Sal has arranged to purchase a larger home through a woman who owes him a favor. The down payment is due the following Tuesday, and Sal is still short. Sal appears to be a highly skilled and accomplished narcotics detective, but he has begun to try and pocket money from police raids.

A Prophet (2010)

Plot:

Malik El Djebena (Tahar Rahim), nineteen years old, French of North African descent, is sentenced to six years in prison for attacking police officers. Alone and illiterate upon his arrival at the racially divided prison, he falls under the sway of Corsican mobsters, led by Cesar Luciani (Niels Arestrup), who enforces a brutal rule.

The Corsicans think little of the North Africans. However, Malik comes under their protection after he is forced to complete an assignment for them: the murder of Reyeb, a hostile witness in the next cell block. Although the victim haunts Malik for years afterward, Luciani offers Malik protection, and enlists him to make coffee and play cards with his gang. When the bulk of the Corsicans are transferred or released, Luciani calls on Malik, who has secretly been studying Corsican, to be his eyes and ears in the prison, eventually arranging day-long furloughs for Malik that allow him to conduct Luciani's business on the outside. A hostage swap, a casino negotiation – he becomes more reliable than even the gang’s longtime attorney.

Skyline (2010)

Plot:

Elaine (Scottie Thompson) and Jarrod (Eric Balfour) have flown to Los Angeles for Jarrod's best friend Terry's (Donald Faison) birthday party. They spend the night celebrating with his girlfriend, Candice (Brittany Daniel), and his assistant, Denise (Crystal Reed). During the party, one of Terry's employees, Ray (Neil Hopkins), welcomes Jarrod to L.A., thinking he has moved there to join Terry's company. During a private argument about whether or not they should move to L.A., Elaine reveals that she is pregnant.

Early the next morning, bright blue lights descend from the sky, entrancing anyone who looks at them. The light turns their eyes milky white and inflames blood vessels, so that they stand up on the skin. Held captive by the light, humans are immobilized and engulfed by the machines. Ray suffers this fate, but Jarrod is saved when Terry tackles him. Jarrod returns to normal shortly after. He and Terry decide to investigate the light from the roof of the highrise, where they see several alien ships descend over the blue lights and vacuum up thousands of entranced humans. Locked out on the roof, they are almost captured by flying machines, but Elaine opens the door from inside. She is temporarily mesmerized, but Jarrod saves her.
